His comments about former House Speaker Pelosi came after the California politician released a video message announcing that she would not seek re-election after representing the city of San Francisco for four decades.

“My message to the city I love is: San Francisco, know your strength,” he said in the clip. “We’ve made history. We’ve made progress. We’ve always led the way. Now we must continue to do so by remaining full participants in our democracy and fighting for the American ideals we hold dear.”
