He added: “If it’s intentional, it’s foul play. When your public narrative starts to look like it’s competing with someone else’s, you lose control of your own brand.”

“Even if it wasn’t intentional, perception becomes reality, and the perception now is that Meghan is always trying to outshine the royal family.

“If I were advising your team, I would say please step back.”

On her return to Hollywood, the Duchess will star in Jason Orley’s Close Personal Friends, starring Lily Collins, Brie Larson, Meg Ryan, Dennis Quaid’s son Jack Quaid, and Brit Henry Golding.

The film is about two couples, one famous and one not, who meet in Santa Barbara and become close friends, and Meghan will reportedly appear in a small role.
