Drivers are advised to follow these guidelines:
The northbound section is closed between J19 (Tabley, Knutsford) and J20 (Lymm).
Redirected traffic must follow the filled square redirect symbol and:
Leave the M6 heading north at J19. At M6 J19/A556 Rbt take third exit onto A556 NB and follow for 7.3km. Take the exit from the A556/A56 Bowden Rbt and follow the link road from the A556 Boudon Rbt to the A556 Sb for 0.2 km. A556/M56 Jct 8 From Jct turn onto the M56 Jct 8 WB entrance slip road and follow the M56 WB for 8.5 km. Leave M56 WB at J9 to rejoin route M6 northbound
The southbound carriageway is closed at junction 19.
Traffic is being diverted via exit and entry routes in what is known as ‘up and up’ closure.
National Highways says: “If this closure affects your planned route, please allow extra travel time. Plan ahead, you may wish to reroute or even delay your journey.”
