Reform storms to stunning by-election victory in huge boost for Nigel | Politics | News

Reform UK has scored another by-election victory just a week before local elections are fraught. County councils across the country will vote next Thursday, with votes also being held in London and the Scottish and Welsh parliaments.
But in Malvern Hills District Council’s Tenbury ward on Thursday, Reform took the previously safe Conservative seat with a jaw-dropping 45% of the vote. The Tory and Green votes fell by 7 percent and 8.6 percent respectively; The Labor Party could not even field a candidate for the April 30 poll. Reform home affairs spokesperson Zia Yusuf welcomed the news, sharing on X: “Another big victory for Reform! Taking another previously ‘safe’ Conservative Party seat.”
“Almost 45 percent. Don’t believe the fake polls.”
National polls show Reform’s lead over the Conservatives and Labor has narrowed in recent weeks, but Mr Yusuf is skeptical that support for his party has waned.
The national YouGov poll, conducted on 26 and 27 April, shows Reform on 26 per cent, the Tories on 19 per cent, Labor on 18 per cent, the Greens on 15 per cent and the Liberal Democrats on 13 per cent.
The seat projection shows that Farage’s party will have 296 MPs, while Labor will have 88 MPs, the Conservatives will have 71 MPs and the Liberal Democrats will have 77 MPs.
Last year, Mr Farage’s party won 68 seats in council byelections, far more than its rivals.
