San Diego gas station canopy falls during rainstorm

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSİ) — The roof of a gas station in City Heights collapsed Saturday evening during heavy rain and high winds in San Diego County. Luckily no one was injured.

Workers at the ARCO gas station at Fairmount Boulevard and El Cajon Boulevard in City Heights had a bit of a scare during the rainstorm that ripped through Southern California this past weekend.

The strong wind combined with heavy rain broke the canopy of the gas station from its base, causing it to topple over.

Workers told FOX 5/KUSI the area was extremely windy Saturday night and no one was injured.

Despite the damage, vehicles continued to pump gas normally after the incident.

Northern San Diego County was the hardest hit by this latest storm, while Oceanside recorded nearly 3 inches of rain over the past three days. Approximately 2 inches of rain fell at the San Diego Airport during the storm.

But the rain is not over yet. More rain is falling in Southern California Monday through Wednesday.
