CM Vijay Likely to Meet Karur Stampede Victims’ Families in July

According to local reports, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay will visit the families of those killed in the stampede that occurred during the TVK rally in Karur on September 27, 2025. The visit is most likely to take place in the second week of July.

41 people lost their lives in the stampede, which was one of the toughest incidents in the history of Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam. The incident sparked widespread outrage across the state and drew criticism from opposing leaders for the lack of security measures. The case is currently being investigated by the CBI.

Following the tragedy, Vijay, who was the only chairman of TVK at that time, announced that he would provide financial assistance of 20 lakh rupees per person to the families of the dead. The amount was directly deposited into their bank account.

While the CBI investigation was paused due to the Tamil Nadu Assembly election, it was resumed on June 11.

While 10 people were issued summonses, four police personnel appeared before the agency for questioning.
