‘Tu bewakoof nahi, main…’: Ex-CSK star shares heated MS Dhoni moment on Bigg Boss 19

Former CSK pacer Deepak Chahar recalled a heated conversation with MS Dhoni in Bigg Boss 19 and recounted the moment when the captain told him, “Tu bewakoof nahi, main…” The viral clip has sparked excitement among fans and offers a rare glimpse into Dhoni’s intense leadership style.
Former Chennai Super Kings bowler Deepak Chahar shared a story about an incident where MS Dhoni lost his temper with him during an IPL match and called him an idiot for trusting him to perform during Chahar’s appearance on the famous reality TV show Big Boss.
Chahar narrated a moment from the IPL 2019 match between CSK and PBKS in Chennai. Batting first, Chennai conceded 160 runs for the loss of 3 wickets, leaving PBKS needing 39 runs from the last 12 balls in their chase.
Chahar was tasked to bowl in the 19th over but made a disastrous start, hitting a no-ball in his first over and conceding five runs. He followed this with another off-the-ball move when a well-set Sarfaraz Khan was at the crease.
Chahar recalled how Dhoni got frustrated and scolded him for his repeated mistakes.
“It was the first time I bowled to death in that match. Sarfaraz Khan was batting. We had planned what to bowl to him. Sarfaraz plays scoop delivery. So if you bowl a slower ball to him, it becomes difficult for him to bat,” said Chahar.
“So I bowled a leg cutter outside leg stump. My leg got stuck and it was a full toss. The match was tense. It was a no-ball match and I also went towards the boundary. I thought the plan was right, but the execution was wrong,” Chahar added.

Chahar said, “I thought my death bowling career was over. Mahi bhai came and told me something angrily. He said ‘Tu bewakoof nahi, main bewakoof hoon’ (You are not stupid, I am stupid).”
CSK ultimately secured a 22-run victory over Punjab, with the leading Indian pacer ending up with a bowling figure of 1 wicket for 40 runs in his four overs. Chahar was released by Chennai ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction and was subsequently signed by their rivals Mumbai Indians.
Meanwhile, CSK has officially clarified the uncertainty surrounding MS Dhoni’s future. Despite earlier questions regarding his participation in the 2026 season, the team decided to retain him ahead of the IPL 2026 auction.
Last season, after Ruturaj Gaikwad got injured and was sidelined after five matches, MS Dhoni took over for the rest of the tournament. However, he batted lower, amassing only 196 runs in 13 innings at an average of 24.50 and a strike rate of 135.17.
With CSK’s acquisition of Sanju Samson, who also plays as a wicketkeeper-batsman, it will be interesting to see what role Dhoni will play in the upcoming season.
