Kozhikode district school arts fest: city sub-district emerges overall champion

The 64th Kozhikode Revenue District School Art Festival concluded at Koyilandy on Friday, November 28; Kozhikode city sub-district clinched the overall title and Silver Hills Higher Secondary School retained its top position.
The five-day festival was held at 22 venues in Koyilandy town. Approximately 13,000 students from public and aided schools in 17 sub-regions competed in 319 events in the Junior High School, High School and Secondary School categories. Besides the main event, Sanskrit and Arabic arts festivals were also held.

Despite constant allegations of misjudgment, nepotism and protests by contestants, the festival received an enthusiastic public response. Drama competitions, Oppana and group dance events continued to be crowd favorites.
Kozhikode city sub-district (as updated at 9 pm) lifted the overall trophy by securing 1,000 points, followed by Chevayur sub-district with 910 points and Thodannur sub-district with 904 points.
Silver Hills Higher Secondary School, which contributed to the Chevayur sub-district ranking with 428 points, continued its remarkable rise as the school with the highest score. Students received A grades in all 90 activities they participated in and were entitled to participate in the State school art festival with approximately 30 products. Memunda HSS from Thodannur district came second with 353 points and Perambra HSS came third with 247 points.
