VBPD announces new communication tool
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The Virginia Beach Police Department announced they are using a new tool that allows for real-time language translation.
According to VBPD, the Axon platform, called Axon Translation, “is an innovation designed to increase public safety and community engagement.”
“The Virginia Beach Police Department is committed to leveraging advanced technologies not only to fight crime, but also to strengthen our connection with the community,” said Chief Paul W. Neudigate. “With tools like Axon Translation, we break down language barriers while building additional trust and security. Our goal is to ensure every resident and visitor feels heard and protected.”
Law enforcement officials shared that Axon Translation provides officers with language translation in 56 dialects. This, they said, will help bridge communication gaps with residents, visitors and tourists from around the world.
