Donald Trump furious at ‘Sleepy Joe’ comparisons | World | News

US President Donald Trump appears to have resorted to wearing bandages to shrug off ‘Sleepy Joe’ comparisons. Last week, Mr. Trump, the oldest person ever elected president, was seen with bandages on his right hand to cover persistent bruising on his right hand at various public appearances, including the Kennedy Center Honors Dinner.

The president often uses makeup to cover dark bruises and has previously accused members of the media of ignoring stories about his administration in exchange for stories about his physical health. Trump has consistently denied speculation about his hand. During his presidency, Joe Biden has faced heavy speculation about his cognitive acuity, much of it fueled by Trump.

Following a bad debate in June 2024 in which he frequently lost his train of thought, concerns about his suitability intensified, ultimately contributing to his decision not to seek a second term.

As speculation about his health continues, the president appears to be growing increasingly frustrated. When a reporter asked what part of his body the MRI examined, Trump dodged the question, saying, “I have no idea.”

Last week, Karoline Leavitt announced that Trump had a “preventative” MRI to comprehensively evaluate the president’s health.

And now it appears that Mr Trump was desperate to avoid the exam, claiming he was in good health and was “sensitive about being compared to Sleepy Joe, even if it wasn’t obvious”, an insider told AFP.

At a meeting on Tuesday, December 2, she turned the spotlight on Biden and his fitness for office, noting that despite holding multiple press conferences every day, he faces constant comparisons to Biden, who he claimed went eight months throughout his presidency without holding a single press conference.

Just last month, Mr. Trump responded harshly to a recent report claiming he was facing “the realities of aging in the office,” declaring that he was in excellent mental and physical health.

The president said he was subjected to an “excellent physical examination” and extensive cognitive testing. He appears to be quoting the results of someone’s test and added a three-word description: “This was very successful.”
