‘Do not drink’ warning issued for milk sold at Tesco with Friday use by date | UK | News

Shoppers have been issued an urgent warning about some milk bottles set to expire on Friday.

A product recall notice has been issued for many dairy products for use through Friday, July 31. The Food Standards Agency issued this notice on 22 July as a warning to anyone with an antibiotic or penicillin allergy.

Customers who purchased certain Grahams Family Dairy milk bottles have been told to return them to the store for a refund. Grahams Family Dairy products affected are 1 Pint Semi-Fat Use until 31 July; Use 1 Liter Semi-Oil until July 31; and 2 Liters Semi-Fat Use until July 31st.

Tesco has issued its own notice confirming it will recall 1 liter semi-skimmed Grahams Dairy milk sold in Scottish stores from 31 July.

The Stirling-based company said in a statement published by the Food Standards Agency that one batch of milk was thought to be contaminated with antibiotics.

Product Recall Notice He said: “This is a precaution we have taken as there are traces of antibiotics in milk and there is a small risk that it could cause a reaction in consumers with antibiotic allergies.

“If you have purchased any of these products, please do not consume them, instead please return the milk to the store where you purchased it for a refund.

“We apologize for this issue and would like to reassure our customers that no other Grahams Family Dairies products or Best Before Dates will be affected.”

The Food Standards Agency added: “The presence of veterinary medicines, including antibiotics, in the product may make the product unsafe to consume and pose a possible health risk to anyone allergic to antibiotics (penicillin).

“If you have purchased the above product, do not consume it. Instead, return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.”

Notices are now placed in outlets where the product is sold, so customers who regularly visit the same stores can see if they have purchased the affected Grahams Family Dairy milk.
