CM Pramod Sawant says, ‘will bring Luthra brothers back’, orders closure of restaurants violating norms

Following the detention in Thailand of Luthra brothers Gaurav Luthra and Saurabh Luthra, wanted in connection with the tragic fire at Birch Hotel in Goa, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant reaffirmed that strict action will be taken against them.

Following the detention in Thailand of Luthra brothers Gaurav Luthra and Saurabh Luthra, wanted in connection with the tragic fire at Birch Hotel in Goa, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant reaffirmed that stringent action would be taken against them, asserting that the government was determined to ensure justice for the 25 people who lost their lives in the tragedy.
The Chief Minister stated that teams from Goa Police and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will go to Thailand to deport the accused to India. Speaking to reporters, Chief Minister Sawant said, “We will bring them to Goa as soon as possible. Goa Police and CBI teams will go there (Thailand). From now on, no violation or rape will be tolerated. Two suspended women government officials are cooperating with the investigation, while one is not cooperating; action will be taken accordingly… To ensure that such an accident does not happen again, our enforcement team comprising senior officers, fire safety officers and building construction officials are visiting various clubs and clubs where serious violations are detected will be closed.”
During the conversation with ANI, CM Sawant said, “Our government will work to get justice for the 25 people who lost their lives… We will put them (club owners, Luthra brothers) behind bars.” He further said, “Following the tragic fire incident, we have arrested 6 people. We have also suspended 3 people and are investigating them expeditiously. One of the 3 owners of the club has been arrested in Delhi, while LOC order has been issued against the other 2 owners. We have also directed the District Passport Office to cancel their passports. With the help of Ministry of External Affairs and Home Minister, the Luthra brothers were detained in Thailand. Our team from Goa and central agencies will bring the two club owners to Goa. We are taking legal action and initiating proceedings. They are behind bars.”
Luthra brothers Gaurav Luthra and Saurabh Luthra, wanted in connection with the tragic fire at Birch Hotel in Goa, were detained in Thailand today and are expected to be deported to India shortly.
According to Goa Police, the brothers were arrested on December 7 for fleeing the country while authorities were fighting the fire and rescuing trapped guests. Following the Blue Corner Notice published by Interpol regarding the escaped defendants, Thai authorities caught the suspect in Thailand.
In the devastating fire that broke out at the ‘Birch by Romeo Lane’ nightclub late at night on December 6, 25 people, including five tourists and 20 staff, lost their lives. Gaurav Luthra and Saurabh Luthra own the restaurant. The Rohini court reserved its order granting anticipatory bail pleas of Gaurav and Saurav Luthra.
