Santa Claus ‘faints’ in Delhi’s Connaught Place: AAP’s bizarre skit targets BJP over worsening air pollution

As the air quality in Delhi continues to deteriorate and thick smog continues to shroud the national capital, the opposition AAP did not miss an opportunity to hit out at the ruling BJP over the current situation. AAP has released a surreal and unique video skit showing men dressed as Santa Claus collapsing on a city street. Reason: Severe air pollution in Delhi.

Senior AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj shared a clip on X in which he is heard saying, “AQI is at 376 in Connaught.” In the video, as soon as the former Delhi minister announced the AQI, one of the men dressed as Santa Claus is seen fainting as viewers look on.

“Oh my god, 376 sunken Santa behosh hogye, itna AQI jaise hi inhone dekha, Santa behosh hogye,” Bhardwaj said. He then moves on to the next Santa and he is also lying on the ground. Wearing anti-pollution masks, senior party leaders rushed towards Santa to perform CPR and Saurabh Bhardwaj shouted, “Maroge kya Santa ko?” he asked.

The clip was shared with the caption “Santa Claus fainted in Delhi pollution” and came at a time when the AQI in Delhi was recorded at 361 at 1 pm, placing it in the “very poor” category, as per data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). Delhi and its surroundings, known as the NCR region, are grappling with heavy smog, with air quality reaching ‘very poor’ quality, causing serious health problems for residents. Authorities have activated all Phase IV measures under the Phased Response Action Plan across Delhi-NCR to combat rising pollution.

‘Pollution cannot be reduced in 9-10 months’

As the BJP and AAP continue to spar over worsening air pollution, Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Tuesday apologized for the toxic air in the national capital. Sirsa said it was “impossible” for any elected government to reduce the AQI (air quality index) in just 9-10 months.
Sirsa said at the press conference: “It is impossible for any elected government to reduce AQI in 9-10 months. I apologize for the pollution in Delhi. We are working better than the dishonest AAP government and have reduced AQI every day. This pollution disease is given to us by the Aam Aadmi Party and we are working to fix it.” He urges AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal to intervene. AAP denied the allegations, accusing Sirsa of “having a habit of lying and cheating”.
