Rapper Nicki Minaj praised President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance during a surprise appearance at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest conference on Sunday.
The “Super Bass” singer was introduced as a surprise guest by TPUSA president Erika Kirk, where she discussed her recent alignment with the Trump administration on Christian persecution in Nigeria.
Despite her past support for Democratic candidates, Minaj expressed her “utmost” respect for the Republican administration for giving people hope, especially in dark times.

“I have great respect and admiration for our president,” Minaj said. “I don’t even know if he knew it, but he gave so many people hope that there was a chance to beat the bad guys and win, and that you could do it with your head held high and your integrity intact.”
He added that he considers both Trump and Vance “one of us” based on how they can still relate to ordinary Americans.
“They haven’t lost touch with the world,” Minaj said. “You know, they’re still connected to the world. And what’s going on in the world, young people and older people, richer people and not-so-rich people, they still have the ability to connect and be real and make us proud to be Americans.”

Minaj said at the time: “I want to make it very clear — once again — that this is not about taking sides. This is about standing against injustice. This is about what I’ve always stood for throughout my entire career. And that’s what I’ll continue to stand for for the rest of my life. I don’t care if anyone, anywhere, is persecuted for their beliefs.”
