Delhi Police arrests alleged kingpin of organised crime syndicate under MCOCA

Delhi Police arrested an alleged ringleader of an organized crime syndicate under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) in Outer North Delhi, an official said on Wednesday, December 24, 2025.
The accused, identified as Rajesh Sharma alias Vivek, is a resident of Swaroop Nagar, police said.
Sharma headed an organized crime syndicate that was allegedly involved in serious crimes such as robbery, womanizing, murder, kidnapping and assault on public officials over the last decade.
Police said the organization operates for financial gain, creating fear among residents in various parts of the city by using violence, pressure and intimidation to commit crimes and seize property.
Police said the accused is a habitual criminal who has 19 criminal cases registered against him in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, including cases under the Arms Act.
Investigators said Sharma evaded arrest and did not participate in the investigation despite repeated reports. A senior police officer said non-bailable arrest warrants were issued against him on November 18, followed by notice proceedings on December 2.
He was eventually arrested on December 15, and police subsequently detained him for further investigation.
During police custody, searches were carried out to find other members of the union. A confessional statement under Section 18 of MCOCA was recorded on December 19.
Police said further investigations were ongoing to identify and arrest other associates of the organisation.
