Woman Dies In Hit-And-Run Case

Hyderabad: A 38-year-old woman died after a speeding car hit her two-wheeler from behind and sped away in Nagole on Friday night. Police said the victim, Sapavath Padma, a housewife from Caneranagar, was returning home after visiting her daughter at a hostel. It was reported that the car was driven at high speed and in a hurry.

Padma visited her daughter regularly on weekends to deliver home-cooked food. Her daughter lost her leg in an accident in her childhood. Padma is survived by her husband and two daughters.

Teen Injured by Banned Manja Verse

HYDERABAD: A 17-year-old Secondary School student suffered serious injuries after a manja rope was wrapped around his neck while he was traveling as a pillion rider near Keesara on Sunday.

Police said the victim, a second-year college student at ECIL and a hostel resident, had returned home for the Christmas holiday weekend. He was cycling with his brother when the sharp thread suddenly fell on his neck, causing deep cuts and heavy bleeding.

He was taken to the hospital where doctors gave him 19 stitches. Doctors said he was out of danger and would recover.

Police said the incident once again highlighted the threat posed by banned Chinese manja threads. Traders and kite flyers have been warned not to sell or use such strings.

Techie Dies in Gachibowli Accident

HYDERABAD: A 23-year-old software worker died and another person was injured in a road accident near IRDAI gate in Gachibowli in the early hours of Friday.

Inspector K. Balaraju said the deceased was identified as Punith Yadav, a native of Warangal and living in a private hostel in Gowlidoddy.

Police said Punith was heading towards ICICI Bank junction by US Consulate when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into the road barrier.

The incident came to light around 01:30 when the US Consulate Rapid Response Team alerted police patrol personnel. Police teams arrived at the scene and found that the bicycle was damaged.

Punith suffered severe head injuries and died at the scene. 108 ambulance service confirmed his death. Balaji, who was sitting in the back, suffered minor injuries and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Gachibowli.

Police suspect him of drunk driving but said the reason will be confirmed after Balaji’s statement is recorded.

Woman Killed, 6 People Injured in ORR Accident

Hyderabad: A 31-year-old woman died and six others were injured when their car crashed into a road junction on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) near Peddagolkonda in the early hours of Friday. The late Kothagadi Shirisha of Sangareddy was traveling to a meditation center in Kadthal with her 10-year-old daughter and relatives.

According to the complaint filed by his brother Arkathala Mahesh Kumar, an agricultural officer, the accident took place around 3.30 am. Inspector K. Narender Reddy said the vehicle was allegedly being driven at high speed and negligently when it hit the divider and threw Shirisha out of the car. The seriously injured woman died at the scene.

Her daughter suffered bleeding wounds on her leg and forehead. Other passengers Sandhya, Veeramani, Sharada and Sandhya’s nine-year-old daughter were seriously injured. All of them were transferred to a private hospital in Shemshabad.

At around 4.50am, Shirisha’s brother was notified of the incident by the police. Following his complaint, Shamshabad police created a record of the incident and took the body to Osmaniye morgue for autopsy.
