CNN paused for breaking news as Trump says worrying eight words | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

The US President deviated from script to boast about the new $400 million ballroom at the White House during a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. CNN was paused for its latest press conference as Trump began attacking the Federal Reserve over the central bank’s renovation of its headquarters. Trump branded Chairman Jerome Powell a “idiot.”

Trump added: “You would think [Biden] he wouldn’t do that. However [Powell’s] Anyone who builds a new Central Bank or renovates a building is a complete idiot. Maybe a few small buildings need $4.1 billion to renovate. “This is the highest price in the history of construction.” The Federal Reserve justified the project by saying that no significant improvements had been made to the facility since it first opened in the 1930s.

Trump continued: “He spends more money on renovations than he does per square foot on any building. For example, I’m building a magnificent, big, beautiful ballroom that the country has wanted for 150 years.”

“It’s a huge job, and it’s a tiny fraction of that number. We’re under budget and ahead of schedule. It’s bigger than I told you… Once we realized we were going to be opening in that building, it’s completely bulletproof glass and there’s a drone-free roof, so the drones won’t touch it.”

“This is a big, beautiful, safe building; a big project for a very small group of people, we’re under budget and ahead of schedule. They’ve wanted this for 150 years.”

Continuing to criticize the other project, Trump added: “They’re way over budget. This was done during the Biden administration and I drove by it the other day… It’s too late, man. It’s too late because it’s always too late.”

Before the speech, it was unknown that the next president’s inauguration would be held in the renovated ballroom.

One confused viewer wrote to X: “What opening?” Another said: “Inauguration or coronation?” A third added: “Did Donald think he’d be ready soon so he could do the inauguration again?”

Another wrote: “We don’t want a big, beautiful ballroom! We want health!” Another said: “He probably meant coronation, not inauguration.”
