Fire Destroys Fishing Boat, One Injured At Nizampatnam

Vijayawada: At Nizampatnam Port in Bapatla district, a mechanized fishing boat preparing to set sail caught fire around 07.30 on Saturday due to a power outage, and one fisherman suffered burns.
According to Srinivas Naik, joint manager of Bapatla fisheries, the boat was about to set off for a week-long fishing trip with a crew of eight when it was completely destroyed by the mishap. The fire destroyed the entire ship, including 2,700 liters of diesel, fishing nets, ice and food supplies, causing an estimated loss of Rs 29 lakh.
Crew members threw a domestic gas cylinder overboard to prevent the explosion. The injured fisherman was shifted to the government hospital in Nizampatnam for treatment.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident and are investigating the incident.
