The crash on the M1 took place as freezing weather continued to grip the UK. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for icy weather from 12am to 10am tomorrow (Wednesday, January 7) covering Rugby and Birmingham.

Forecasters warn of disruption to transportation due to icy roads. They urge drivers to be careful.

The Met Office says: “Plan to leave home at least five minutes earlier than usual. There’s no need to rush, reducing your risk of accidents, slips and falls.”

He adds: “If you are driving, give yourself the best chance of avoiding delays by checking road conditions or bus and train schedules and changing your travel plans if necessary.
