According to Indian government sources, the last date of August 1 for countries that receive letters from US President Donald Trump, a mini agreement with the United States can be announced in “within a day or two”, according to Indian government sources, for countries receiving letters from US President Donald Trump. However, the agreement features said that if India did not fit India, India would not progress.
Mr Trump said that on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, the United States was “close to an agreement with India”.
At midnight on July 8, Mr. Trump points to the end of the 90 -day pause, announced by up to 40% in other countries. Unless an agreement with the US is concluded, tariffs about Indian imports will be 26%.

Mr. Trump sent letters to 14 countries that applied higher tariffs to address the US trade deficit with them. These countries have so far included Japan, South Korea, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Tunisia, South Africa, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Serbia, Cambodia, Thailand, Laos and Myanmar.

The new tariffs will come into force after the previous date of July 9 as of August 1st.
Dead of Date Edition
A government official told Hindu for the countries where letters were sent, ”he said. “A letter was not sent to India and we are still working to conclude the agreement, so what we are still working under 8-9 July.”
This was confirmed by another official of the commercial negotiating transactions, saying that the agreement could take place on the night of July 8 or “within a day or two. However, this second source also said that India’s expanded August window can use the “agreement features if the features are not suitable for us”.
Mr Trump told journalists in Washington on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, said that the United States “speak to everyone” in the context of trade agreements.
“We made some agreements, but we will often send a letter,” he said. “We made an agreement with the UK, we made an agreement with China, we are close to making an agreement with India. We don’t think we met others and we could make an agreement, so we sent them a letter.”
Agreement dynamics
Rajesh Agrawal, a team of Indian negotiators ruled by the special secretary at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, returned from the USA last week after his second trip. A team from the United States visited India twice in the last few months.
According to sources, India has put its final proposals in front of the US, and now the US has to decide whether to accept the agreement. India will not change the suggestions of the mini agreement further.
As Hindu has already reported, the main problems that regulate an agreement between India and the United States continue to be genetically modified (GM) products and dairy products.
The United States forces it to allow the importation of GM products such as soybeans and distillers and to allow cereals with soluble for animal feed (DDGs). DDGS is a by -product made during the production of ethanol. Although India was imported, it was not prone to the GM crops produced in Turkey.
Another demand is that India allows the import of cow’s milk from the US, where India resisted.
