Montana town perplexed by mystery of three bikes on a log
January 23 (UPI) — Residents of a Montana town can’t explain a years-old local mystery: the discovery of three bicycles on a stump in the Missouri River.
Three bikes have been sitting atop the log in Great Falls since at least the fall of 2020, and despite efforts to solve the mystery Websites, including Reddit Questions remain about who put them there and why.
an investigation By KRTV’s Quentin Shores He didn’t come up with any answers, but he did come up with a few theories, including the idea that the bikes might be an urban art installation or some kind of joke.
“I don’t know anything about who is responsible for putting the bikes on the log,” Rebecca Engum, general manager of Great Falls, Montana Tourism, told Shores. “I remember seeing them driving by one day and thought it was just a nice kind of impromptu urban art feature.”
Installing the bikes will be a complex endeavor, Engum said.
“It’s unique that people still carry bikes to the log and somehow secure them,” Engum said.
Krystal Pfleger, general manager of Mackenzie River Pizza Co., said bikes are a frequent topic of local conversation.
“A lot of our guests, especially tourists, come in and say, ‘What are those bikes over there?'” Pfleger said. “they ask.” he said. “I honestly don’t have a good answer for them, but I think it’s really cool.”
