Soccer player Lucas Trejo’s family killed in Venezuelan quakes

Argentinian football player Lucas Trejo’s wife and two children died after two earthquakes occurred in northern Venezuela late last week.
Trejo has played for several first and second division football clubs in the South American country since 2023 and signed with northern Venezuela-based Club Sport Marítimo de La Guaira earlier this year.

According to Rojas, his wife and children were in Caracas, about six miles south of where the earthquake occurred. He added that his sister was in Rojas’ hometown of Los Teques, about 17 miles south of the coastal devastation.
“It’s really hard at one point in my career to see my teammates and the players I played with lose their family members, their children,” said Rojas, who spent years playing baseball at La Guaira. “It’s really devastating. It’s been really hard for me to fall asleep at night.”
