Narelle Fraser is among Australia’s most elite police officers, having devoted 15 years of her career to investigating some of the country’s most horrific crimes, from child abuse to terrorist attacks.

But he has one case left: the case of John Sharpe, the Monster of Mornington.

“I have never understood or understood how John Sharpe killed not only his pregnant wife Anna, but also his young daughter Gracie,” said Fraser.

He added: “Little Gracie was particularly subjected to unimaginable pain and horror before finally succumbing to the monster that her father was.”

The case began in March 2004, when 41-year-old Anna Kemp was reported missing by her mother Valerie, who lived in New Zealand. reports the Mirror.

She had not been able to reach Anna for several days, and when she questioned her husband, John Sharpe, about her daughter’s whereabouts, he claimed she had run off with another man.

Valerie was skeptical. But she contacted the police after receiving a series of suspicious messages on her daughter’s birthday, which she said did not seem to be her usual demeanor.

Anna Kemp met John Sharpe while working at the Commonwealth Bank in the 1990s. They married in 1994 and moved to the gorgeous Victorian suburb of Mornington, where they welcomed their first daughter, Gracie, in 2002.

Gracie was born with hip dysplasia, a challenging medical condition that puts serious pressure on new parents.

But when Kemp joyfully announced her second pregnancy the following year, Sharpe became angry and suspicious, accusing his wife of infidelity.

She later claimed that she was afraid of being left alone to care for the couple’s disabled daughter.

Described as a “loner”, Sharpe instantly became the police’s prime suspect when the investigation was opened.

In an attempt to mislead them, she implored Kemp in a disturbing television interview to return home while holding a photo of their daughter, Gracie.

However, the police were not convinced and arrested Sharpe after observing suspicious behavior for several days.

While in custody, Sharpe eventually confessed, describing how he brutally murdered his wife and daughter “as if he were telling her what he had for breakfast.”

According to Sharpe’s testimony, he was unhappy in his marriage and thought his wife was “controlling and moody.”

During this period he purchased a high-powered harpoon gun from a local fishing store and began “practicing” with it in his backyard.

Sharpe was furious when he learned of his wife’s second pregnancy and realized he was “getting on his nerves.” He couldn’t sleep after the argument on March 23, 2004.

While his wife was sleeping soundly in bed, he went to the garage in the backyard and took the harpoon. When they returned to their bedroom he threw a spear at his pregnant wife, missing her head by mere centimeters.

Kemp was still alive, so he fired a second time, this time fatally. He then covered his body with towels and retired to sleep on the couch downstairs.

He initially buried her body in the backyard. But he soon decided that this would not be enough and exhumed her body before dismembering her with a chainsaw and disposing of the remains in garbage bags along with household rubbish.

At this point Gracie was still alive. But Sharpe soon became convinced that his daughter “should be with her mother” and returned with her little daughter to the fishing store, where he would soon purchase the spear he would use to end her life.

On March 27, 2004, four days after brutally murdering his wife, Sharpe put Gracie to bed. After drinking several glasses of whiskey and Code to “numb his senses”, he fired four spears at the 19-month-old, including the one he used to kill his wife.

After she died, Gracie was also put in a trash bag and thrown away like trash.

Police later managed to locate both bodies, and Sharpe was convicted of two counts of murder in 2005. He will be eligible for parole in 2037.
