Iran-US tensions: Trump says Tehran negotiating with Washington | World News

US President Donald Trump said that Iran is in negotiations with the US.

“The plan is for Iran to talk to us and we’ll see if we can do something. If not, we’ll see what happens,” Trump told a Fox News reporter.

“The last time they negotiated we had to take out their nuclear. You know it didn’t work. Then we took it out a different way and we’ll see what happens,” he added.

“We have a large fleet going there, larger than the one we had in Venezuela and actually still do,” Trump said.

Trump also said the United States cannot share military plans with Gulf allies while negotiating with Iran.

Responding to reports that Gulf allies were left in the dark about potential U.S. intervention plans involving Iran, Trump said, “We can’t tell them the plan. If I told them the plan, it would be as bad as telling you the plan; in fact, it might be worse.”

Earlier, a senior Iranian security official said that a structure for negotiations with the United States had been established.

“The creation of a structure for negotiations is progressing,” Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said on social media platform X, without elaborating.

Larijani’s remarks came after a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Friday, where economic cooperation and important regional and international issues were discussed.

These remarks also come at a time when tensions between Iran and the United States are increasing and the United States is strengthening its military presence in the Middle East.

Trump said a “massive armada” led by the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln and larger than the fleet sent to Venezuela was heading towards Iran. While Washington has openly promoted the possibility of diplomacy, this deployment reflects the increasing risk of conflict.
