‘We will pay,’ Savannah Guthrie says in desperate video plea to potential kidnappers of her mother | Arizona

Savannah Guthrie told potential kidnappers of her mother, Nancy Guthrie, on Saturday that the family was willing to pay for her safe return as the frantic search for the 84-year-old entered its seventh day.

“We have received your message and we understand. We now ask that you return our mother to us so we can celebrate with her,” he said. A video shared on social mediawith his siblings. “This is the only way we can achieve peace. This is very valuable to us, we will pay the price.”

It was not immediately clear whether the longtime host of NBC’s Today show was referring to a new message from someone who may have kidnapped Nancy Guthrie. The Associated Press has reached out to the FBI and the Pima County sheriff’s department in Arizona for more details.

Tucson TV station KOLD reported on friday He said he received a message via e-mail related to the Guthrie case, the contents of which he could not disclose. The FBI said it was aware of a new message and was reviewing its authenticity.

Investigators believe Nancy Guthrie was abducted against her will from her home just outside Tucson last weekend. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said DNA tests showed that blood on Guthrie’s front porch matched his. Authorities have not identified any suspects or excluded anyone.

The sheriff said Friday that he was disappointed that no one was able to take a photo of the camera from Nancy Guthrie’s home the day it went missing.

Investigators discovered that the home’s doorbell camera was disconnected early Sunday and software data recorded movement in the home minutes later. However, since Nancy Guthrie did not have an active subscription, none of the images could be recovered.

The sheriff said Thursday that investigators have not given up trying to obtain the footage.

“If only technology were as easy as we think, here’s a picture, here’s your bad guy. But it’s not like that,” Nanos told the AP. “We have information coming to us from these technology groups saying, ‘This is what we have and we can’t get it anymore.'”

The sheriff also said he had no new information about the note sent to the television station or the ransom letters allegedly sent to some media outlets, and that this aspect of the investigation was being handled by the FBI.

Meanwhile, concerns about Nancy Guthrie’s health have grown as officials say she needs vital daily medications. He is said to have a pacemaker and deals with high blood pressure and heart problems, according to Sheriff’s audio on Broadcastify.com.

“I imagine their condition is getting worse every day,” Nanos said. “He needs medicine. And I have no way of knowing if they gave him that medicine.”
