Israeli president arrives in Sydney as court challenge looms; Coalition unites again

Liberal senator Jane Hume has issued a stunning rebuke of her party’s direction and leadership in the face of shocking polls, saying “something must be done” before her party is forgotten at the polls.

“The party room wants to support a strong leader and we wanted to support a strong leader from day one. This cannot be blamed on anyone else. It has to go back to the leadership we face today. “Now, whether it’s Sussan Ley or David Littleproud, they are the leaders of our two major parties and they need to think about themselves and themselves. [their] Hume told reporters at Parliament House in Canberra:

His comments came after The Australian Newspoll found the Coalition was at a record low 18 per cent primary vote amid opposition defense spokesman Angus Taylor’s agitation over a leak against Ley’s leadership. Hume was put forward as a potential MP on Taylor’s leadership list.

“You know what I’m actually tired of? Gallows humor. Because that’s all we’ve got right now. That’s all we have left. At some point we have to step forward and say: ‘How are we going to get ourselves out of this crisis instead of sitting in the black hole and complaining about it?'” Hume said.

“I don’t know what that is, I don’t know what the solution is and I don’t know who the solution is, but what I do know is that more of the same is not good enough. Unless we can step up and show who we’re fighting for, what we’re fighting for and why we’re doing it. So why should Australians listen to us? Why should they listen to us?”

“My colleagues say they’re embarrassed. That’s the word they use when they go home to their constituents. They’re embarrassed when they have to face their constituents, because that’s not what the Liberal Party is. That’s not what the National Party is. We’ve got to do something different, and we’ve got to do it quickly, because we’re running out of time.”
