Land available for ARAI facility in Mandya, says M.B. Patil

:
The Karnataka government has announced the availability of 100 acres of land in Mandya for setting up the country’s first Civil and Infrastructure Equipment Testing facility at an estimated cost of ₹ 500 crore.
Large and Medium Industries Minister MB Patil, in a written communication with Union Minister of Industries and Steel HD Kumaraswamy, sought directions to the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) to submit a detailed project proposal.
Mr Patil’s announcement followed a letter from Mr Kumaraswamy in January seeking the required land. He said Mandya Deputy Commissioner informed that 105 acres of government land is available in Muddanaghatta and Heggadithihalli villages of Basaralu hobli in Mandya taluk. He pointed out that the land is barely 500 meters from the Mandya-Nagamangala State highway.
He said more land was available for the proposed facility than initially requested and urged ARAI representatives and Union Ministry officials to visit the State and conduct a joint survey to assess the suitability of the site. He added that the land could be allocated for the facility if it is deemed suitable.
