Duo Remanded, Key Suspect at Large

Hyderabad: The task force and Jubilee Hills police on Tuesday arrested two men who stole jewelery worth Rs 1.3 crore from the house of a businessman in Jubilee Hills after calming down the watchman. The accused Bhupender Shahi and Krishna Chand were heading to Nepal. Jiban Chand, who is suspected of masterminding the robbery, is at large, police said.

According to police, the robbery took place on February 5 at Naveen Ravindra Sharma’s house in Nandagiri Hills in Jubilee Hills while he was away. The domestic worker allegedly allowed the gang entry and mixed sedatives into the food and drinks served to the watchman and the cook, rendering them unconscious. They then escaped with the jewellery.

The accused duo was nabbed near the Indo-Nepal border, police said. Police said, “We have seized some of the stolen jewelry so far. The rest will be seized after other gang members are arrested.” Allegedly, both suspects confessed their roles during interrogation and were referred to the courthouse and arrested.
