SNDP Samrakshana Samiti to initiate legal action against Vellappally over ‘election irregularities’

SNDP Samrakshana Samiti will initiate both criminal and civil cases against Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan for preparing fake voter list in violation of Supreme Court directives for the upcoming organizational elections, Samiti leaders said at a press conference here on Saturday. They also alleged that Mr. Natesan and his son spread false information about court decisions in an attempt to manipulate the election.

The controversy arises from the Supreme Court order dated December 19, 2025, which directed the Union Ministry of Corporate Affairs to determine whether SNDP Yogam is operating as a Kerala Non-Commercial Company or under the Union Companies Act. The court expressly required that this decision be made only after the plaintiffs were notified, their documents were examined, and their defenses were heard.

‘Unfounded allegations’

Samiti leaders, however, claimed that they were yet to receive an official date for the hearing and pointed out significant bureaucratic inconsistencies in the notifications they received. “Even though the Ministry of Corporate Affairs is yet to hear the allegations or take a final decision, Vellappally Natesan and his son are falsely claiming that they have received all the necessary approvals to conduct the elections,” they said.

According to Samiti, a fake circular was issued to union officials to start preparation of voter lists. “This action reportedly ignores the existing Supreme Court order dated August 8, 2024, which appointed a special committee to regulate SNDP Yogam membership registration using valid identity proof,” they added.

‘Support from authorities’

Samiti members also alleged that this violation of law was carried out with the silent support of Central and State authorities. “The State core committee of SNDP Samrakshana Samiti has decided to take stringent legal and organizational countermeasures. A Special Leave Petition (SLP) has been filed in the Supreme Court to challenge the appeal granting voting rights in an earlier case,” they said.

Chairman S. Chandrasenan, petitioner V. Vijayakumar and State committee member D. Sajeev Babu attended the press conference.
