Balochistan crisis: Pakistan faces scrutiny over missing Balochs | World News

Pakistani security forces are facing fresh criticism over allegations that at least seven people have gone missing in Panjgur and Karachi.

According to The Balochistan Post, the fact that a student is among the missing increases the concern of families who have encountered similar disappearances before.

The report also states that residents described a recent raid in the Pulabad area of Panjgur, where armed personnel searched houses and detained at least six people. Eyewitnesses said that the individuals were taken to unknown places.

Locals named the two victims as Inayat and Rasheed, but other identities are yet to be confirmed. It was reported that 23-year-old Hameed’s son Zulfikar from Tasp was kidnapped in a market place on February 13.

Locals claim that men from a state-backed armed group known as the death squad were also involved. Since then, his relatives have heard nothing about his fate.

Another alarming case is that of Panjgur student Zakir Noor, who was allegedly caught in Karachi on December 30, 2025.

Baloch rights group Paank, which tracks such cases, says security personnel caught him without legal documents or charges. As The Balochistan Post notes, Noor has not been in contact with her family since then, raising fears that she has been transferred to a secret detention center where many will face torture or worse.

Paank warns that secret detention puts people at great risk and breaks international rules against random arrests. Activists say the epidemic mostly affects students and young men who move to big cities for school or work.
According to The Balochistan Post, Pakistani authorities are yet to respond to the allegations.

Pakistan has been under global scrutiny recently due to increased attacks in Balochistan by Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) militants in late January 2026, killing dozens of people, increasing enforced disappearances such as in Panjgur and Karachi, and Pakistani military counter-operations that claimed over 200 insurgents killed.
