Sensex Today | Stock Exchange LIVE Updates, February 16, 2026: GIFT Nifty marked a negative start for Indian benchmark indices. Futures were down 59.30 points, or 0.23 percent, at 25,459.50.

Major markets in the Asia-Pacific region fell in early trade on Monday, which is likely to weigh on Indian markets as well.

Japan’s Nikkei 225 index was trading down 0.1 percent after data showed the country’s GDP grew less than expected in the fourth quarter, although a technical recession was avoided. Japan’s GDP increased by 0.2 percent in the October-December period, against the annual growth expectation of 1.6 percent.

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index fell 0.67 percent, while Australia’s S&P 200 index rose 0.27 percent.

Financial markets in South Korea and mainland China are closed on Monday.

Last Friday, the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average in the USA closed with an increase of 0.05 percent and 0.12 percent, respectively. Nasdaq Composite index closed down 0.22 percent. After the US CPI data came largely in line with expectations, the markets could not make a significant rise. In commodity markets, Gold and Silver futures traded lower in the Asian session on Monday in weak trading due to holidays. Gold and Silver futures traded down 0.12 percent and 2 percent respectively. On the domestic front, shares of Ola Electric Mobility, Titagarh Rail Systems, PTC Industries, Fortis Healthcare, CE Infosystems and Shakti Pumps will be in the limelight as third quarter (Q3FY26) results are announced over the weekend. No major companies are scheduled to release third-quarter earnings reports on Monday.
