Plastic surgeon sparks more ‘penis-gate’ Winter Olympics drama by claiming to have operated on athlete

A top plastic surgeon famous for performing penis enlargement procedures claimed he provided the service to a ski jumper last month.

The Winter Olympics have been rocked by the most unusual of stories in recent weeks, following false claims by German newspaper Bild that male ski jumpers were injecting hyaluronic acid into their genitals to gain a competitive advantage.

The bizarre debate, known as ‘penis gating’, centers around the idea that enlarging genitals allows ski jumpers to wear larger clothing, which in turn improves their aerodynamics and increases jumping distances during racing.

The International Ski and Snowboard Federation called it a ‘wild rumour’, while the World Anti-Doping Agency promised to investigate any evidence of whether this constituted doping. No specific athlete was allegedly accused of surgery.

But in an interview USA TodayFamous surgeon Alessandro Littara recently revealed that he performed this procedure while ski jumping.

Littara, who has performed more than 3,000 penis enlargement surgeries, told the publication: “Regarding the news in question, I actually treated an athlete from this sport; I will not publicly disclose the name, nationality of this athlete and whether he participated in these Olympics.”

‘But I can say that I treated it last month and used generous doses of hyaluronic acid.’

The ski jumper told Littara that he wanted surgery to avoid embarrassment in the locker room after the competition.

“I can’t tell you whether you’re telling me the whole truth or not,” he admitted. ‘But in any case, we did a good job and implanted more than a generous dose of hyaluronic acid.

‘The results are immediate, so the athlete can wear the new suit in just a few minutes.’

According to the German-based group UGRS Darmstadt – Center for Penile Surgery, Littara is ‘probably the leading doctor in Europe in terms of experience, surgical figures and scientific work and publications in surgical penis enlargement.’

Hyaluronic acid, when injected into the male appendix, can increase the girth of the penis by one to two centimeters, thus allowing male ski jumpers to wear suits with larger crotch area.

It was revealed that at the world championship in March 2025, the Norwegian team adjusted the stitching on the crotch of their suits in order to gain an advantage over their opponents.

Magnus Brevik, their head coach, assistant coach Thomas Lobben and other staff member Adrian Livelten were banned for 18 months as a result.

Olympic ski jumping champions Marius Lindvik and Johann Andre Forfang were also suspended for three months, but it emerged the athletes were unaware of the plan.

This season and ahead of the Olympics, skiers’ bodies had to be measured using a 3D scanner.

While being scanned, athletes are required to wear only ‘fitting underwear’ as their crotch height is also measured to determine the size of their competition clothing. This is to ensure that the garments only have a tolerance of two to four centimeters, as well as an additional three centimeters for a man’s crotch height.

New measures introduced by the FIS ahead of the Games to supposedly fix the problem included tamper-proof microchips and competitors had to pass through inspection checkpoints before competing.
