175 people fall ill after consuming ‘contaminated’ food in Jharkhand

Palamu Civil Surgeon Dr. Anil Kumar Shrivastav said that the incident was reported from Dwarka village under Panki Police Station limits after these people fell ill due to “food poisoning”.
Another official said most of the patients were complaining of vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain since Sunday night.
“A total of 175 people have been admitted to Panki Community Health Center (CHC), but only 22 of them are currently receiving treatment. Initial symptoms point to food poisoning. The exact cause will be determined only after investigation reports arrive,” Shrivastav said. he said.
Another official said that these people consumed contaminated food items at a fair organized on the occasion of Mahashivratri.
The civil surgeon said the health department has arranged for additional medicines and medical personnel and the affected children are being constantly monitored.
“I have instructed doctors to provide appropriate treatment to patients and ensure proper availability of medicines, beds and medical staff,” another official said. Another official said that the health department is fully alert and ready to deal with any emergency.
The Mahashivratri fair was held in Raghua Khad area of Dwarka and was attended by people from Dwarka, Yadav Tola, Jamuatand and surrounding villages.
