Organic Fairs to Boost Natural Farming in NTR District

Vijayawada: In a major initiative to promote sustainable agriculture, a district-level mega organic fair will be held on February 21 at Krishnayapalem village in A Konduru mandal in NTR district.
The event, which will be held in a mango garden, is expected to attract large participation from farmers, consumers and agribusiness organisations.
Announcing the initiative, NTR district collector Lakshmisha urged stakeholders to make the program a success by participating in large numbers and taking advantage of the opportunity to strengthen awareness and market linkages for organic products.
Organized under the auspices of the district natural agriculture department, the fair aims to raise public awareness about organic products and build the capacity of farmers through special training sessions. Exhibition and sales stands will be established where a wide range of organic agricultural products will be exhibited. The inputs required for organic farming will also be exhibited to guide growers who want to switch from traditional methods.
Interactive platforms will facilitate farmer-expert discussions, allowing participants to clarify their doubts and engage in meaningful discussions on sustainable practices.
The collector emphasized the need to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides in cultivation and increase the organic carbon content in the soil for long-term productivity and environmental health.
The event will celebrate exemplary farmers, farmer producer organizations (FPOs) and individuals who actively support natural farming.
A natural farming fair will be held at the IGMC Stadium in Vijayawada on February 22. The event aims to bring together natural agriculture practitioners, consumers and institutions on a single platform.
Marketing linkages will be facilitated to provide farmers with affordable prices for their products. Awareness sessions on MoUs and business opportunities will also be held. Leading e-commerce companies, including BigBasket, are expected to participate.
