Man Held in Kota for Threatening to Shoot Rahul Gandhi, Cong MPs

Jaipur: A man who allegedly posted a video threatening to shoot Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and 25 other MPs of the opposition party was detained by police in Kota, Rajasthan, on Thursday, a senior official said.
The man, who identified himself as Raj Singh, spokesperson of right-wing group Karni Sena, said in the alleged video that all the BJP and Karni Sena workers were angry after 25 Congress MPs verbally abused Speaker Om Birla in the recently concluded first part of the Parliament Budget session in the Lok Sabha.
Singh said in the video, “If such an incident happens again, we will enter the houses of those MPs and destroy them. I believe this incident happened on the orders of Rahul Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi, listen carefully, if such an incident happens again, we will burst into your house and shoot you.”
“If those MPs are arrested within 24 hours, there is no problem. Otherwise, we will shoot them all one by one,” he said. After the video was published on social media, Singh was detained by Kota police.
Superintendent of Police (SP), Kota, Tejaswani Gautam told PTI that the accused has been detained at Borkheda police station and is being questioned regarding the video.
In the video, a photo of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Birla shaking hands can be seen on the wall behind Singh. Both the BJP and the Karni Sena have denied any association with Singh.
“I want to clarify that the person seen in the viral video has no connection with the BJP. BJP is a disciplined party committed to nation building. Such language and behavior is completely against our ideology and moral values,” said Rakesh Jain, BJP Kota city president. A senior Karni Sena leader also said that Singh had no association with the group.
