Snapchat clue leads to dramatic river rescue after friends’ night out | News

Police footage shows the dramatic river rescue after a young man became separated from his group of friends during a night out in Durham in early February.
After he went missing, his group of friends used Snapchat to track his location to Frankland Lane, on the edge of the River Wear, where he clung to a fallen tree branch.
A second young man was also stranded inches above the water as he tried to pull his friend to safety.
Police arrived at the scene minutes later and rescued the couple in the pouring rain and on the slippery river bank.
One of the men was hospitalized for hypothermia.
“Particularly where alcohol is involved, please remember that such a situation can be fatal in a heartbeat,” Durham Constabulary said. he warned.
