Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday, February 22, 2026, accused the BJP government of “gaming” with his security and sought an explanation regarding the withdrawal of National Security Guard (NSG) protection provided to him.

In a statement from the SP headquarters, the former Prime Minister said that the government should clarify the reasons that led to the withdrawal stated in the security review.

Alleging that security decisions were politicized, Mr. Yadav said, “BJP government is playing with my security. I had NSG security but it was withdrawn. The government should have explained the reason for this.”

Mr. Yadav also touched on the withdrawal of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s KMT protection, claiming that the BJP government had earlier removed his identity card and forced him to vacate his official residence.

Speaking to reporters during his day-long visit to Jhansi, Mr. Yadav accused the BJP of “insulting everyone”, including Shankaracharya and the Magh Mela students in Prayagraj.

“They pulled the ‘shikha’ (strand of hair) of our batuks and humiliated them. The chief minister constantly insults Shankaracharya. He demands certificate from him,” Mr. Yadav said, adding that Yogi Adityanath should apologize for his actions.

He said a “true yogi” empathized with people’s suffering and claimed the government was instead celebrating the bulldozing of homes. He also alleged that the Prime Minister does not respect the Constitution and law and cited the cases mentioned in Adityanath’s 2017 election manifesto to attack him.
