Welfare Measures For Farmers, Women, Focus On Tribal And Naxal-Affected Regions Mark Annual Budget For 2026-27 Of Chhattisgarh

Raipur: Chhattisgarh government on Tuesday presented Rs 1.72 lakh crore budget for financial year 2026-27; this budget focused on welfare measures for women and farmers and development of tribal and Naxal affected areas in the state.
The budget presented in the Parliament by finance minister OP Choudhury lays strong emphasis on the overall development of Surguja, Bastar and other tribal areas previously affected by Naxal.
In a path-breaking move for education in Bastar, the government announced the setting up of two “Education Cities” in Naxal-affected Abujhmad and Jagargunda districts with a budget allocation of Rs 100 billion.
Special initiatives have also been planned to promote sports and preserve cultural identity, including the Bastar Olympics and Bastar Pandum, which provide a platform for local talents and strengthen the positive identity of the region.
Additionally, 1,500 new positions have been created for Bastar Fighters, the counter-insurgency wing of the Chhattisgarh police.
The budget includes important initiatives that will promote women’s economic and social empowerment.
A 50 percent exemption in the registration fee was proposed for properties purchased in women’s names; this promotes property ownership and financial security.
The budget announced that the government will launch Rani Durgavati Yojana and provide Rs 1.5 lakh to eligible girls once they reach the age of 18.
The government also decided to provide cheap agricultural loans.
