City lawyer ‘who made anti-Semitic slurs, sexually assaulted women and wet himself at party’ is suspended

A City attorney who allegedly made racist remarks, groped colleagues and got so drunk that he wet himself at work parties has been suspended.

Ryan Williams was accused of making antisemitic allegations against Jewish colleagues and using the slur to describe a black person while he was a partner at law firm SBP Law.

At a party in East Finchley pub in north London in 2021, Williams is said to have told a Jewish colleague that ‘racism towards Jews does not exist’ and said: ‘You are all at the top,’ the court heard.

He was also accused of repeatedly describing his black opponent in a charity boxing match as a ‘tall, big nigger’ and repeatedly using the foul slur. Telegram reports.

The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), which brought the case against Williams, claimed Williams’ behavior became increasingly erratic throughout the evening and he began throwing pizzas across the pub garden.

He was said to have been ‘incredibly drunk’ by the end of the night and an Uber driver reportedly refused to pick him up.

It was reported that he was unable to stand up and urinated on his clothes because he was drunk.

Williams is alleged to have previously made anti-Semitic remarks to a Jewish colleague while working on a case involving a Jewish security charity.

Ryan Williams, now at Healys LLP, was suspended after being accused of making racist remarks and groping colleagues while at SBP Law Firm.

His colleague claimed Williams said there was security only outside synagogues because Jewish people had a lot of money.

Two months after the bar-and-garden party, at a Christmas party at the Dorchester Hotel, he was accused of telling the same Jewish colleague that they only got their job because of their faith and that Jewish people considered themselves superior to everyone else.

He was also said to have referred to ‘big Jewish hands’ from another colleague.

At a bar after the party, the court heard Williams slapped a female colleague on the inside of her thigh, then touched her and another colleague’s bottom.

The SRA investigated the allegations and referred the case to court, accusing Williams of breaching bullying, harassment and discrimination rules.

Williams denied the allegations but resigned from his £125,000-a-year partnership post at SBP Legal and is now a partner at London corporate firm Healys LLP.

He was brought before the Lawyers Disciplinary Tribunal, which found that all the charges were proven and suspended him. It is understood that he was given a 12-month suspension and the full decision has not been issued yet.

The costs he must pay, which could be as high as £220,000, will be determined at a later date.

A spokesperson for SBP Legal told The Telegraph: ‘These incidents were immediately brought to our attention, we suspended Mr Williams and upon our review of the matter he resigned from the practice. We do not tolerate this type of behaviour.’

Mr Williams told the Daily Mail: ‘I was suffering from severe post-traumatic stress disorder at the time due to the death of my young child and grandmother days before the events.’

He also said that the phrase ‘wetting yourself’ was an ‘inaccurate and derogatory description of a medical condition’.

Mr Williams added: ‘I am considering appealing and matters are not over as far as I am concerned.’

Healys has been contacted for comment.
