SV Vedic University Gets IKS Research Project on Vedic Cognition Studies

Tirupati: The Indian Information Systems (IKS) Department of the Ministry of Education has approved a major research project to Sri Venkateswara Vedic University (SVVU), Tirupati, under the Competitive Research Proposals Program 2026-27.
The project titled “Vedic Rituals and Practices in Progressive Improvement of Human Cognition within Indian Knowledge Systems” will be led by Dr A. Venkata Radhe Shyam, Director, Research and Publications, as Principal Investigator and Dr G. Ramakrishna, Assistant Professor, Vaikhanasa Agama, as Co-Principal Investigator. It was selected under the thematic area of Vedic Philosophical and Cognitive Sciences from among the national level proposals approved by the IKS Department.
University officials said the sanction is an important step in advancing interdisciplinary research on Indian Information Systems at SVVU. They recalled that Dr Radhe Shyam had earlier completed an IKS-funded project titled “Prana-Based Vedic Remedies to Minimize Suicidal Ideation” and received academic appreciation for relating Vedic concepts to contemporary cognitive and mental health studies.
In September 2025, the IKS-SVVU Research Center was also given approval to promote continued research in key IKS areas. The Center is currently working on themes such as “Enhancing Cognition: An IKS Framework for Addressing Digital Illusion in Educational Settings” and “Vedic Discourse Models: Insights for Effective Communication.”
Vice Rector Prof. Rani Sadasiva Murty, along with Registrar Dr T. Umesh, deans, principals, faculty and staff congratulated Dr Radhe Shyam and Dr Ramakrishna for securing the national level project. They said the success would strengthen the university’s research profile and support efforts to develop scientific studies based on Vedic knowledge traditions.
