Iranian state media reported that Iran’s religious leader was killed in US and Israeli attacks.

Khamenei’s daughter, son-in-law and grandson also died, according to Fars News, a media channel affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. US President Donald Trump announced the killing of Khamenei on Saturday, but Iran has yet to confirm the death of its supreme leader.

The Associated Press reported that state television did not give any reason for the death of the 86-year-old, with the announcement made after a joint US-Israeli attack on the country.

“This is justice not only for the people of Iran, but also for all the Great Americans and the people in many countries of the world who were killed or maimed by Khamenei and his bloodthirsty gang of STUFF,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social account.

The US president said the killing of Iran’s leader was a rare opportunity for the embattled Middle Eastern country to “Take back their country”, adding that he had heard some members of Iran’s security forces no longer wanted to fight and wanted immunity.

He said the United States would continue “heavy and precise bombing” for as long as necessary to ensure “peace in the Middle East and indeed the world.”

His comments came as Dubai and Abu Dhabi were also rocked by explosions as the US attacked Iran and the Tehran regime opened fire on Israel and airports in the UAE.\

Saturday’s attack prompted retaliation from Iran, and attacks were reported in several Gulf countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.

Hundreds of thousands of British citizens are believed to be in the Gulf, and those in Bahrain, Israel, Palestine, Qatar and the UAE have been asked to report their presence to the Foreign Office.

The United States and Israel described the strikes as a “preemptive” strike against the Tehran government, which intends to develop nuclear weapons.

Talks between the United States and Iran aimed at resolving the issue of Tehran’s nuclear ambitions ended without a deal on Thursday but were expected to resume at a later date.
