Trump vows revenge as US troops killed in Iran strikes | World | News

Donald Trump has vowed to avenge the deaths of American soldiers and warned that military operations against Iran will continue at “full force” until US objectives are achieved. In a six-minute video posted on Truth Social, the US president confirmed that three service personnel were killed and acknowledged that there may be other casualties.
“There will probably be more, unfortunately,” he said. “America will avenge them.” He previously told NBC News: “We’ve got three, but we’re expecting losses. But ultimately it’s going to be a big event for the world.” The Pentagon said three unidentified US soldiers were killed and five were seriously injured in attacks on Iranian targets.
Mr Trump claimed that “hundreds” of targets inside Iran had already been hit, including nine warships, and said the operation was “ahead of plan”.
“Combat operations are currently in full force and will continue until all our objectives are achieved,” he said.
He also said US and Iranian officials were “talking”, although he did not provide further details.
Trump also called the late Ali Khamenei a “miserable and despicable man” and accused him of being involved in the blood of Americans and other innocent people.
He added the US was mourning the three service members who had “made the ultimate sacrifice”, warning that further casualties were likely.
The five-word warning said: “America will avenge their deaths.”

It was the White House boss’s first public address since addressing the nation the day before.
He insisted that Iran should never be allowed to develop long-range missiles or nuclear weapons.
“We cannot allow a nation that raises terrorist armies to possess such weapons,” he said, warning it could otherwise “extort the world to their evil will”.
Mr. Trump called on Iran’s military and police to “lay down their weapons” or “face certain death” in exchange for immunity.
He also called on Iranian citizens to “seize this moment”, adding: “Be brave, be brave, be a hero and take back your country. America is with you.”
Sir Keir Starmer addressed Britain in a similar manner, confirming that Britain had authorized the US to use its military bases, but stressed that the country was not directly involved in the ongoing US-Israeli attacks on Iran.
