Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz joined the chorus of Democrats criticizing the Trump administration’s attacks on Iran, prompting vicious mockery on social media, including from those on the left.
Walz has been one of the most visible state leaders and Trump critics over the past year as Minnesota became embroiled in a Somalia-linked child care fraud problem that has spread to other sectors and has repeatedly condemned the Department of Homeland Security’s immigration enforcement efforts in his state.
As missiles rained down on Iranian targets and 86-year-old theocratic dictator Ali Hosseini toppled Khamenei, Walz voiced his objection to X: “No new war“

That missile set off a whirlwind of backlash, including countless memes aimed at the controversial Democrat and 2024 vice presidential candidate.
Comedian Michael Rapaport, who has spoken out against New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani but is known for his anti-Trump comments, criticized Walz by retweeting an Israeli diplomat’s response to the governor.
“Iran started this war 47 years ago when it took Americans hostage. Honestly, can people open a book before sharing nonsense?” wrote Aviva Klompas, whose biography includes her time in Israel’s mission to the United Nations.

Rapaport spoke out against critics of Iranian attacks and condemned those who remained silent as Khamenei oversaw the mass murder of tens of thousands of dissidents in recent months.
“I’m glad that those old nonsense and his whole regime are gone,” he said of Khamenei. “Ding dong that old bullshit is dead. Now 72 virgins have to deal with that bull; good luck ladies,” he added in a message on Monday.
“Will this affect your commissions in Somalia?” asked Rep. Randy Fine, R-Fla., a leading pro-Israel voice in Congress.
“Didn’t you try to start a war with Trump just a month ago?” Another response from conservative videographer Cam Higby, who has been tweeting videos of his casual visits to unrest in Minneapolis.
When the left embraced the idea that President Donald Trump is a monarch, another critic countered, “There is no king.”
“Be thankful this changed the headlines about the Somalia scam in Minnesota,” another said.

Others criticized Walz’s alleged hypocrisy regarding his previous meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his tweet at the time that “Minnesota stands with the Ukrainian people fighting to defend freedom and democracy.”
late Monday, reports emerged Khamenei’s wife, Mansoureh Khojasteh Bagherzadeh, succumbed to injuries sustained in the missile attack that killed her husband.
