It used to be a train station and the debauched Rah Bar, but this site on Toorak Road has now entered a new era as the Godby Hotel. From Julien Moussi’s Only Hospitality group (Beehive Hotel, Hotel Collingwood and more), it’s billed as a pub, but its offerings run the gamut wildly.

The menu sphere ranges from sushi and sashimi to vodka rigatoni and parma. And beyond the convivial front bar, through “secret” revolving doors, is Nightbird, a dimly lit room inspired by Japan’s vinyl listening bars.
