Burglars Strike Two Houses, Decamp With Gold And Silver

visakhapatnam: Thieves attacked two houses in northern Andhra Pradesh and seized more than 400 grams of gold ornaments and nearly 1.5 kg of silver in two separate incidents.
In the first incident, miscreants targeted the locked house of B. Sujatha at Govada under Chodavaram police station limits in Anakapalle district on Saturday night and made off with around 330 grams of gold and 1.5 kg of silver jewellery.
Sujatha, a staff nurse in Visakhapatnam, left her home earlier in the day, police said. Taking advantage of the fact that the house was locked, the thieves entered the house and stole valuable items. Police suspect a local gang or someone the family knows was involved. A case has been registered and a special team has been formed to investigate the theft.
In another incident, thieves attacked the house of retired bank employee NVS Rao at Rushikonda within the limits of Prime Palem police station in Visakhapatnam city and stole around 80 grams of gold ornaments.
Police said the criminals broke into the apartment while the inmates were sleeping. They removed the window bars and stole gold ornaments kept in the wardrobe. A case has been registered and the police have launched an investigation to identify and nab the accused.
Mystery continues regarding death of 13-year-old boy in Anakapalle
The body of the 13-year-old boy, who allegedly died as a result of gunshot wounds, was reportedly recovered from its initial location at Etikoppaka under the limits of Elamanchili Rural police station in Anakapalle district on Sunday. Police said the boy went to the canal to swim with his friends on Sunday but did not return home for lunch.
Local people claimed that the victim was injured with a bullet in his chest as a result of the village-made gun firing. Police suspect that the child may have been hit by a pellet fired from a village-made gun. They are also examining whether a person who hunts wild animals in the area is connected to the incident. The police came to the scene and called the clues team to collect evidence. The body was taken to another location for autopsy.
A special team was formed to investigate the circumstances that led to the child’s death.
Two people died and a girl was injured due to electric shock in Kurabalakota
Two people died and a girl was seriously injured due to electrocution in Reddivevaripalle village of Kurabalakota mandal during Dandumaremma jatara on Sunday.
Police said the victims had come to the village to attend the annual festival. Shankar Reddy and Padmavathamma from Gollapalle in Punganur mandal had visited their daughter Sunitha’s house in Reddivevaripalle for the occasion.
Sunitha had also invited her sister Anitha, who works in Bengaluru, and brother-in-law Shivakumar to attend the jatara. They came with their daughters Likhitha Reddy and Madhupriya. A native of Kongareddipalle in Chittoor town and their neighbor in Bengaluru, Venkatesh (38), also accompanied them.
Police said that the children were playing on a swing fixed in a room with a metal roof on Sunday morning, and the swing came into contact with electric current due to a fault in the wiring.
Padmavathamma ran to save the children but got stuck after hitting the electric swing. Venkatesh tried to save her but also suffered a severe electric shock. They both died at the scene.
Madhupriya was seriously injured and was first shifted to the government hospital in Madanapalle and later to a private hospital for treatment.
Mudivedu police reached the spot and took the bodies to the government hospital for autopsy. TRANSCO officials said that the accident occurred as a result of the damaged service cable inside the house contacting the iron swing. A woman traveling on the bus fell ill and died
A woman passenger died in an APSRTC bus from Kovvuru to Jangareddygudem on Sunday.
