A mail sent to the official address of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly in the wee hours of Thursday morning, March 12, 2026, threatened to blow up the State legislature, Bombay High Court, Bombay Stock Exchange and banks, said Ram Shinde, Chairman of the Maharashtra Legislative Council. Security was immediately increased around the building. Preliminary investigation suggests that the mail is a scam.
The post said there would be threats of launches, bombings and missile attacks.

“A threat mail was received from official ID at 6.57 am. Budget session is on. Bomb and missile threat. Investigation is on. BDDS and dog team inspected the building. Vidhan Bhavan and four other places faced the threat of being blown up. Our security agencies have allowed all the personnel inside now. This is a sensitive session. Vidhan bhavan is being searched. We cannot give further details. We will inform after investigation,” Mr. Ram Shinde said.
A full security alert was issued immediately after the post. Buildings were evacuated. All employees were asked to leave. Bomb Detection and Disposal Teams came to the State Assembly and made inspections. Maharashtra Home Minister Yogesh Kadam said, “There is no need to worry. Based on preliminary investigation, it appears to be a fake mail.”
Meanwhile, legislators requested that the hearing that day be postponed due to the threat. Shiv Sena UBT legislator Milind Narvekar said, “Given the bomb threat, the entire place needs to be thoroughly searched. For this, daily hearings should be suspended.
