Objections on UKP: DCM, other ministers to meet State MPs in Delhi

To discuss the objections raised by Andhra Pradesh on the Upper Krishna Project (UKP) and prevail over the Union government, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar will travel to Delhi along with other Ministers, including HK Patil, MB Patil and NS Boseraju, to meet members of Parliament from the state.
Speaking to media persons in Bagalkot on Saturday, Mr. Shivakumar said that they will leave for Delhi on Tuesday.
He said Andhra Pradesh had written to the Center objecting to land acquisition for NCP and the Center had also written to Karnataka seeking clarification. “We are proceeding with the project as per the court order and have already spent ₹ 26,000 crore,” he said.
The Deputy Chief Minister announced that the State government was in the process of making preparations to utilize the water quota allocated to the State as per the Court’s order in 2010.
He said that apart from objecting to the NCP, the Andhra Pradesh government also did not cooperate in the construction of balancing reservoir in Tungabadhra, due to which the state lost 30 tonnescft of water.
