Iran state media cites ex-IRGC official Mohsen Rezaee, says Strait of Hormuz ‘will remain closed’

Press TV reported that Rezaee accused Washington of growing insecurity in West Asia.
According to Press TV, Mohsen Rezaee, a senior member of Iran’s Good Council, made this statement while addressing the participants at the mass funeral held in Tehran for Ali Shamkhani, who was assassinated in the US-Israeli attack on February 28.
He emphasized that the strategic waterway will remain closed and no US warships will be allowed to enter Persian Gulf waters.
Rezaee said, “The US presence in the Persian Gulf has been the main factor behind insecurity for the last 50 years. It is impossible to ensure security here unless the US withdraws from the region and regional countries, especially Iran and Oman, take control of the Strait of Hormuz.” he said.
According to Press TV, the senior official added that the Islamic Republic would consider ending retaliatory operations only after full compensation for damages caused by “terrorist US-Israeli attacks” and the provision of absolute guarantees regarding future regional security, including a complete US withdrawal from the Persian Gulf.
Rezaei also claimed that Iran emerged victorious from this conflict politically, militarily and economically. “From an economic perspective, the Americans took an unprecedented decision in the last 44 years and released 170 million barrels of crude oil from their strategic reserves to reduce rising prices.”
“This will not last for more than a week or two as prices will rise sharply once again,” Rezaee added.
He also suggested that Iran had shattered what he called the US “myth of invincibility.”
According to Press TV, “No one can expect a country like Iran to deal a harsh blow to the United States, which has the most advanced technologies, aircraft, missiles and air defense systems. The future is ours and the Iranian flag will be raised high.” he said.
