Ex-NRL star Chris Walker arrested over alleged DV offences

Former NRL star Chris Walker will appear in a Gold Coast court on Monday after being charged with domestic violence allegations.

The former Brisbane Broncos, Sydney Roosters and Queensland Origin flyer was arrested at Currumbin Waters on the Gold Coast on Saturday night.

“After receiving information that a man was wanted on allegations of domestic violence, officers attended an address, Whitsunday Drive, Currumbin Waters, at approximately 5.50pm before he was taken into custody a short time later,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

He was charged with three counts of assault (domestic violence offence) and one count each of using a carriage service to threaten, harass or cause an offence, unlawful stalking, intimidating, harassing or exploiting (domestic violence offence) and willful harm (domestic violence offence).

He will appear at Southport Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

Walker had a notable playing career in the NRL, starting with the Broncos before stints with South Sydney, Roosters, Melbourne Storm, Gold Coast Titans and Parramatta Eels.

He played 151 NRL matches from 1999 to 2011.

He also spent a year in the English Super League with French team Catalans Dragons in 2010.

He played six times for Queensland.
