Beijing/Hong Kong (Reuters) -nvidia said on Monday that the H20 artificial intelligence chip will continue to sell to China and offer a new model designed to meet the regulatory requirements in the Chinese market.

The company is making applications with the US government to continue its sale to China, the world’s most valuable company, Nvidia, H20 Graphic Processing Unit (GPU) and is waiting to get a license soon. Deliveries are expected to begin shortly after that.

“The US government made sure that licenses will be given to NVIDIA, and Nvidia hopes to start delivery soon.” He said. The White House did not respond immediately to the request for comments.

CEO Jensen Huang is planned to organize a media briefing in Beijing on Wednesday, when he participated in a second visit to China after a trip to China, where he emphasized the importance of the Chinese market in April.

In the midst of alleviating the movement of H20 chips, the tensions between Washington and Beijing, there are controlling controls that allow China’s rare land exports and the controls that allow chip design software services in China to continue in China.

The H20 chip was developed especially for the Chinese market after the US export restrictions were applied to national security reasons at the end of 2023. The AI chip was Nvidia’s most powerful legally existing product in China until it was effectively banned by Washington in April.

The H20 ban forced Nvidia to write 5.5 billion dollars in inventories, and Huang said that early this year the Stratechery Podcast had to get away from sales of $ 15 billion.

Nvidia’s AI chips have been the main focus of US export controls designed to keep the most advanced chips away from Chinese hands in the midst of the intense competition between the superpowers to dominate the AI race.

The company also announced that a new AI chip specially designed for China, called RTX Pro GPU, has been developed. Nvidia described the model as “completely compatible” with US export controls and is suitable for digital twin AI applications in sectors such as smart factories and logistics.

In May, Reuters reported that Nvidia was preparing to launch a new AI chip based on the RTX Pro 6000D in China.

The graphic processing unit said that NVIDIA will be part of the latest generation Blackwell-Architecture AI processors and is expected to be priced well below the H20 due to weaker features and simpler production needs.

Huang met with the US President Donald Trump The company is a part of NVIDIA’s efforts to encourage AI cooperation and emphasize the support of NVIDIA to open source research and global AI development and then policy -makers with the authorities in Washington and later in Beijing.
